It started with a shared appreciation for interior design, travel, and fine wine.
Private Label Custom Cellars is a family-founded business, and our interest in wine cellars grew naturally out of the things we’ve always enjoyed—good design, beautiful architecture, and spaces that make being at home a little more special.
Over time, that interest turned into hands-on experience in custom wine cellar design and construction. The more involved we became, the more we discovered just how much goes into creating a really well-designed cellar.
There’s the visual side, of course. The glass, the wood, the lighting, and the way the bottles are displayed. But there’s also an entire side of the project you don’t see when everything is finished.
And that’s where things get interesting.
We’ve come to enjoy that balance between the creative and the practical. Finding a way to make a beautiful idea work in a real space is a big part of what we do at Private Label Custom Cellars.

The Little Details Make a Big Difference
Sometimes people come to us with a room that’s already planned out. Other times, they’re still figuring out where a wine cellar might fit into their home.
Either way, there are things to think through early on. How will the space be cooled? Where will the equipment go? What kind of racking works best? And how do we make sure the wine cellar feels like a natural part of the surrounding architecture?
We’ve learned that design, refrigeration, and construction all need to work together. A seemingly small adjustment to the room can affect the layout, and a design decision can influence what the contractor needs to prepare.
That’s why we like getting involved in those conversations. We can help work through racking options, review the design direction, coordinate technical requirements, and figure out what makes sense for the actual space.
It’s not always the most glamorous part of creating a wine cellar, but it makes a real difference to the finished result.

One of our favorite parts of this work is collaborating with people who bring different ideas and expertise to the same project.
A homeowner might have a photograph of a wine cellar they love. An interior designer might have an entirely different idea inspired by the architecture of the home. Sometimes, we’re handed a sketch or even an AI-generated image and asked, “Can we do something like this?”
We enjoy starting there.
We look at the concept, explore the racking and materials that could work, and help turn the inspiration into something the project team can develop. That may mean arranging CAD drawings, identifying manufacturers, or making adjustments when something looks great on paper but doesn’t quite fit the actual space.
Of course, we’re often just one part of a much larger team. We regularly work alongside interior designers, architects, engineers, general contractors, and project managers. Everyone has their own responsibilities, and we bring our specialized wine cellar knowledge into the conversation.
Some projects involve just a few people. Others call for much more coordination. The goal is the same: figure out what works, keep everyone informed, and make sure the wine cellar fits the bigger picture.
We like working that way. Good ideas tend to get even better when people can share what they know and solve the tricky parts together.
